Fabio, we've had two good golf tournaments since we last taped. Let's get your perspective a little bit on Miami. It's not as current, then we'll go through the truest real quick. What happened in Miami?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, the Cadillac Championship in Miami. Uh Cameron Young once again showed that he's coming into form. Uh really has come into his own this year. He's always been a solid ball striker. His putting has been subpar. He has gone and got a kid that he played college golf with to be his caddy, and he said he's the best green reader he's ever seen. Uh really lets that kid read the putts for him, and he lines it up in strokes it and makes them. So uh really a game changer for him. Scotty finished his normal second, uh, which he uh has been prone to do. And a guy that's really come out of nowhere lately, you're looking at Alex Fitzpatrick, finished tied for ninth there, just won uh him and his brother won Zurich, and then uh had another really good showing this week. Uh Ricky Fowler also tied for ninth there, so starting to come into his own, which you'll see uh this week. He uh stepped up, but uh very, very good, uh, very good tournament. The thing was Scotty had that one bad round once again, uh, which really took him out of contention. I mean, Cameron Young caught a penalty on himself in the last round, but still was able to lap the field by six strokes. So just a dominant performance by him. Uh just continues to get better and more confident in each end.
SPEAKER_06Let me stop you there. Hey, Rod Rodney might be the only guy I know that'll call a penalty on himself. I mean, I'm looking around kicking the shit out of that golf ball with my foot, getting anywhere I want to be. So that that is something. So I know it's a gentleman's game, but when you self-penalty, if you will, I guess you want to be trusted. Are you worried that the camera cat what are you worried about, Rodney? If what why why would you do that?
SPEAKER_05That's part of it. It's the it's it's how many cameras are out there, right? And if you don't call that penalty on yourself and you sign an incorrect scorecard, you're done. I mean, you're disqualified from the tournament. So uh they're really making sure that that ball doesn't move and whatever situation they're in. What happened last it happened Sunday at Christopher Rayton had a putt that the ball moved on the green. So he called everyone in, you know, hey, what do I do? What do I do? Just to make sure that they did the right thing. We're we're out there playing, we don't give a damn, right? But we're not playing for millions of dollars. So yeah. And there's so many people call in, did you see what happened? And then PGA investigates it. I mean, all that's right.
SPEAKER_03Think about the difference in golf in the NBA. They're flopping all over the place. Soccer's the same thing. I'm not a big soccer guy, but they flop all over the place. Same thing in the NBA, and then you go to the complete opposite of that or you call a penalty on yourself.
SPEAKER_06You know what I'd question? I'd be the guy that wouldn't penalty. I'd get to the score table and turn your thing in. Yeah. Or you sign that, you might want to take a look at it. And you know what I'd say at that point? Let's bring some excitement to the people. Why don't you stand up and question my integrity right now? Let's see how this goes on camera.
SPEAKER_03You'd be in trouble for something else.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, well, I mean, I thought it'd be something that would be worthy of watching. It'd make good TV, wouldn't it, Ira? That's some happy Gilmore. Now, let me ask you, you come to this week. I told you I watched a full final round, you know, after Mother's Day. I think Mother's Day is an awesome holiday, and my my my boys did great job sneaking home. One came from Riley quick for a dinner on Friday. Junior came up from Virginia Beach on Saturday. Her oldest was here the entire time. They took us to brunch on Sunday, and then everybody came over that was in town for a cookout, so it's a it's a great holiday. However, it's a great weekend. It is, but here's what really moved it for Bub's need. I started realizing the kid wanted to cook on a grill. So I said, huh. Now that I'm back from brunch, just in time for the tea off to start, now you want to cook. And I may, may not have converted to beer yesterday and had eight or ten by that time. So I watched the entire thing. Let me tell you this, because you know I'm a red guy. Red's my I like red. So every uniform I or if I could have red, black, black, white, and red, I've uh, you know, I loved it.
SPEAKER_03Why it's your wife's nickname.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, red. That's correct. Red. However, I you know, I used to get pissed Tiger wore red on on Sunday. Dude, I am all in on Fowler's orange.
SPEAKER_03All in on the time.
SPEAKER_06And I can tell you he's a thin guy. I'll never do that much justice to orange. I'd be look more like John Daly in orange. But it that orange is something else. And he's he hasn't he had Puma and those sponsors for a lot of years, right?
SPEAKER_05I mean, since he was how good was he yesterday, Ira? He was he was phenomenal. Through the first ten holes, he was amazing. He was 600 through the first ten and finished around at 600. Struggled a little bit coming in, but he's getting in really good form. Like I just talked about the Cadillac, he finished uh P9, I think. Uh so he's really striking the ball good right now. It's just seems like those guys are having the one bad round where they just can't overcome it, where some of these other guys are very consistent. And you got so many new golfers that are really good. I mean, you got Hoygaard up there, Alex Fitzpatrick once again uh tied for fourth, Hoygaard tied for second, and then Christopher Ratton, his first win uh on the PGA tour, uh, was really steady down the stretch. Uh this is the one where I picked uh Rory to win and ended up T19, tied for 19th, just had that one bad round right there. I think it was Friday.
SPEAKER_06That's right. Well, and T19 is usually where I get pain when I've swung too hard. Is that not a vertebrae?
SPEAKER_05If you do, you got more than most of us. Uh yeah. But uh he had that one bad round, and but just it's what amazed me about that golf course is how fast it it it got. The putting, you could tell they were scared to hit it, and it's the confidence you have to have to be able to play the golf course.
SPEAKER_06Um and did is even when it's not tour time, you want to find the Bill Murray of that son bitch and hit him with your putter in the head. Not only how fast the greens are, where the pins are placed. I mean they they literally might have a drone watching you and enjoying it back in the clubhouse. Because even if you play well, and I don't, that's what happens. Right, let me ask you a question. Winner comes in yesterday, he knows he's had a great putt from the fringe. What was it, I or three feet maybe, draws in there, knows that he's gonna win. Is it golf worse for a first win than other sports? Because before he even went to putt that putt to win, he you could tell emotion had he had to put his head down. It's he's gonna win on the biggest stage that the world has in golf. Uh, you know, a baseball guy gets like that, maybe a guy at the NHL, maybe an NBA, maybe an NCA, we we talk about kids, but they're in pros now, they get paid. Do you think if you're in that situation, Rodney, and that emotion how do you collect yourself to go make that putt after that emotion comes out?
SPEAKER_03It's difficult. We've had it to a much lesser extent for different things over the years, but I think you just go back to you've done this a thousand times and go through the routine that you always go through and then after you make it, then all the emotions come out.
SPEAKER_06I re when uh and I think you and I have had this conversation, you've actually won a couple member guests, stuff that was uh a lot little bit bigger deal than people give it credit to. Do you feel the same? Do you collect yourself and then the emotion comes to?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I'm not winning anything big enough for emotional. I'm not buying through, but but but there's there there's a different feeling to it. You know, you know it's a it's a big putt or it's a big shot that's coming up, and and Rodney nailed it, it's the routines that you've built in the past that that get you through those those moments, no matter what it is. But golf really is that way. You see the same exact club spin that they sit up down behind the ball, the same lookup, the same everything, every single shot. And that's I think that's what keeps their in the moment for that. And then depending on what you know what these people went through, is it their first win? Is it is it Mother's Day that's important to them, whatever it may be, that's when it the moment hits them. They can't seem to control themselves, which is which is what you know fine. I mean, it happened this week in in NASCAR as well.

How good is the Australian or New Zealander or whatever the hell he drives those supercars over there and then comes over and whips everybody's ass on a road course?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, Shane Shane Van Gisbergen is his name. SVG. Yeah, he's he is by far the best road course racer that NASCAR has ever seen. He's a different animal in those courses or those tracks, the way he's the way he's able to brake and gas and save tires and still be able to drive it in deeper than anyone else and uh come roll.
SPEAKER_06He's just he's an amazing, uh, amazing race car driver when it comes to he gets on the radio, he's yeah, really not good in 11. Like it was that different in 10 or better in 12? I you know, and it he is so good at it. Different for him. Have we gotten a little bit back to the boys again? Are they doing better at that?
SPEAKER_05They are. I mean, you see, up front people you would expect to see right now up front in those type of races. Connor Zillich was, I mean, he's up and coming. He's he was up there all day. Michael McDowell always runs good. Ty Gibbs is an incredible road course racer as well. But then you started seeing Briscoe was top 10 all day. Tyler Reddick was up there all day, Kyle Bush was up there all day. So you're starting to see the the regular guys get a little closer, but that gap from second to first is insurmountable right now. Unless something happens. I mean, hell, it's something almost happened yesterday. He was 30 seconds down at one time and ran the leaders down under green, which is unhurting. Yeah, and in the middle of the year.
SPEAKER_06I mean it's unheard of when you're jogging. I'm I'm famous for that Ira, when I'm 30 seconds behind the race, I got a hell of a closing step that people don't get. And usually it's because I asked some out of moped to stop and pick me up, take me to the front, and let me start running in. But but anyway, I I got a question too. As you you watch that race, the road course race, the old road courses, so let's call it the Glenn and out Sonoma. Now they've created Rovals and stuff like that. Is that not still the best road course racing? Those that are set up as road courses.
SPEAKER_05I think it is because you can pass on those. Those ones that they build in the street, they're tough to pass on. The one they had in Chicago. I don't know how this one this year will be on Air Force Base in San Diego, but those street courses are really hard to pass on. If you know what you're doing at Old Riverside, even um Sonoma, Watkins Glen, you can you can set a guy up and pass. There's several passing zones on those tracks. So I do like that. That's that's my favorite races of the year. This and along with Talladega and Daytona, because you never know what to expect at those. But yeah, wide open, but you don't know when the big one's coming on those. But here, man, it seems like it's a driver. The driver is what what pulls the car along. It's not aerodynamics, it's not pit strategy is involved in it, but it that doesn't overcome a good driver sometimes.
SPEAKER_06He is and let me I'm gonna get your thought on this, Rodney, and then we're gonna move to the schedule. What what's where's Hendrix at? What's wrong?
SPEAKER_03They're still trying to figure out this new car, I think.
SPEAKER_06He's got what I think. Even his fourth driver in the 48 is a top ten driver, in my opinion, right? I mean, yeah, Bowman. I'm saying, but but all four of his guys, I believe, are top ten talents. He doesn't hire bullshit, you know. He hadn't done that, you know, when he had Schrader and Bonine that group together. So what's wrong with him? Just the car?
SPEAKER_03That that would be my guess, would be it would be the car just trying to figure it out and the ins and outs. And it's different now that you have so many road courses also. Because in the old days you didn't have those. You had Watkins, Glenn, and Sonoma.
SPEAKER_06Uh yeah, too. Yeah. Well, also, man, we got to a stale point where they eliminated some of the old time tracks and they've just built a cookie cutter, mile and a half. And Hendrick's group was better a mile and a half than anybody's. He he mastered that. Ira Toyota. Toyota's Toyota seems to have this car figured out better than most. Do you agree?
SPEAKER_05I definitely agree. They they're making more grip than anyone else for whatever it is, if it's mechanical or if it's arrow, they're making more grip, more down force than the other cars. I mean, Chevrolet did finish one-two yesterday, but that's an anomaly from what's been out there.
SPEAKER_06Because they had a guy that could have won, as Richard Petty said.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_06He could have won in a damn go-karotion. They could have.
SPEAKER_05The O'Reilly series the day before, you had Connor Zilich uh really run run a great race. Uh Bangisbergen was doing great, got taken out in the pits, but Jesse Love leading that race uh and gets passed on the last lap, last turn. Interviewed the kid, and you could tell that he was disappointed himself, he was disappointed in what had happened. Just really took ownership for the way that that race ended. Uh his best friend won the race. Connor Zilich, that's his best friend in the world, wanted to he wanted to beat him on a something that Zilich is known for, is winning those races. So I just thought it was really stand-up of how he acted afterwards and the way that he was able to express his emotions in the moment. Opposite you saw Bubba Wallace getting in Christopher Bell's face and they finished 26 and 26. Shocker. Yeah, which is and we're yeah, something stupid like that. I th I I think the man needs to, I don't know, cool down, calm down. It just didn't seem like that big of a deal to be, and I wasn't in the car, but still, they get all they get all tore up about that, and you have a guy that finishes second that could have easily won the race and shows the humility of uh in the moment.
SPEAKER_06Hey, it was a big deal. Zillage, a guy we need to look at the Dodge camp. Should I call Tim Kinesis now and tell him that's one of the ones? Hey, I saw Hosevar in the truck race get spun out, and old boy comes back with a laugh on his face. He's Earnhardt, man. You know what I'm saying? Like he was mad, but he had a he's laughing like almost like this laugh without saying your name, you son bitch, is gonna be what happens the next time we get on the track together, and my bumper's gonna find yours real quick, and you're gonna be in the gate. He's a special talent, too. I like him.
SPEAKER_05So yeah, yeah, he don't care. He don't care. None of those guys are as he did Benny Denny Hamlin's podcast. He said, Yeah, none of those guys are.

What teams? You know, the Pirates always do this and then they falter back to eight. They're not trading people away, so they hang in there this year. I get it. But who's the team that's most disappointing now that you think will find their way out? Certainly hope it's not the Red Sox because they were supposed to be pretty good and they're struggling. They fired a coach already, fired a manager. Dodgers are paced off to me. They're not where they I think they should be.
SPEAKER_03I think they're in cruise control. Till it's time to flip the switch.
SPEAKER_06When we get there, when it gets to The Dodgers are like your Tesla. You're letting them selfie they're self-driving right now, and then they're going to take over control, and it's a dual motor, Ira. You know what I'm saying? Who do you see, Ira, in baseball right now that's better than what you thought they should be?
SPEAKER_05Better. The Braves are by far better than I thought they would be. I thought the Phillies would run away with that division, and they're nine games back now. So there is a lot left. They have proven that they can't hold on here as of late.
SPEAKER_03Hopefully the Mets can stay doing exactly what they're doing now.
SPEAKER_06What's the Mets payroll? Didn't they become one of the top three? They're two, aren't they? Behind the Dodgers. Yeah. I think they are. Yeah. But they lost 15 games in a row or some sh like that.
SPEAKER_03Anyway, nobody gives a shit. It's the middle of earth. Middle of May. So real quick, I think it's going to be Milwaukee and Atlanta on that side playing for it.
SPEAKER_06I don't think the Dodgers will be away. Milwaukee's flipped it around, but look at the Cubs won eleven straight. So the Cubs are on top. I don't think they stay there, but I got it. They've actually lost the last two. Yeah, but I'm saying they had won eleven straight, so they're eight and two in their last ten. So we're going to flip to a listener. I had a listener, Bobby, out of Charlotte, North Carolina. When we get into this NFL next week, folks, uh be focused simply around how the race finished on Sunday. No real golf. Anything big that happens, we'll bring it up. But the the listener asked, and he wants both you all's answer to this, before the schedule is released, Bobby asked, which game would you two most like to see from an international matchup and why?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, if I'm going, if I'm looking at the the the way the NFL finished up last year, I think the best two teams ended up being Seattle and the Rams. I would love to see those two teams. I think it would be a marquee matchup anywhere in the world. Uh if you see if you do that internationally, we're we're trying to build NFL outside the United States. I think that would be two great teams to put on their defending champion, and the team that a lot of people thought was the best team in NFL was the Rams.
SPEAKER_06Well, the Rams are going to start in Australia against the 49ers. The only other game that's announced that's been leaked was Dallas and the Ravens in Rio de Janeiro in week three. This week it was confirmed Jacksonville's contacted the league and said, hey, the Steelers game cannot be an international game for us. Why? Because the Steelers will be the only game they sell out this week this year at home. So they are begging the NFL not to make that one of their because the usually Jacksonville plays two international because they'll give up that home date. Rodney, who do you think would be a great matchup internationally?
SPEAKER_03Just for selfish reasons, because I'm a huge Viking fan. Vikings and Chiefs, because I'm a I'm a home fan. That's just me personally who I would like to see. Uh on your point earlier, Ira, about the Rams in Seattle, that would have been great a year ago. If football repeats itself as it has so many times before, one of those two won't do the same this year. Both of them, they will not be the best two teams. I agree they were last year. And if you had some way of having a crystal ball of knowing, hey, here's this is gonna be the best two teams, let's just let's put them in an international game. This year, for whatever reason, somebody's gonna get injured or teams get older, they lose key players, whatever. It's very unusual for those same two teams to be the best on that side. Now, Buffalo, Kansas City, and Baltimore were pretty much dominated the the West for several years, but on the NFC side, that just hadn't been the case very often.
SPEAKER_06Well, how many teams do we see have a last place schedule, flip the script and go 12 and 5 like Washington? Detroit of this year. Well, Washington. Then they go from a 12 and 5 schedule, ain't the same as that 4 and 13 schedule was. And that's it, you know, because they had some injuries and stuff like that. And that that's gonna be a question post these we're gonna wait till next week with the schedule. But I I want to know who you think the schedule Pittsburgh's gonna be in a bad way because they got a first place schedule. Doesn't matter if Rogers comes in. I do think they've gotten better as a team, but look at what Cleveland, I wanted to tip my hat to Cleveland draft, look what Baltimore did in the draft, look what Cincinnati did through trades in the draft. Hell, their whole division's gonna get better. So it's gonna mean a lot. I'd tell you for me, the international game I'd like to see the most, the one that shines, is something that has marquee quarterback play. So is that Dak and Lamar? I I don't think so. I'm more of a, you know, if Mahomes was playing Stafford or if Allen is playing Mahomes. If something that makes that one game at 9 a.m. or whatever time that is, or even if they go to a Friday night game or something, because the NFL collective bargaining is changing what is a true week off, five days now counts as a week's rest. So now if you come back on a Tuesday from that international trip, you can play that Sunday where it used to be an automatic buy based on front side or backside, or they'd give you a Thursday night and then you'd play international the following Sunday, and then you'd have the bye week. Because they're involved in so many damn international games, that's all gonna change. So they're either gonna have to go to an 18th game with a two-week buy, or they're gonna have to, those schedulers got to be really smart about it.
SPEAKER_03I like that you had the break after that. I think that was fair. Tell somebody come back from Europe on a Tuesday and you got a game on Sunday.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_03That's a lot.
SPEAKER_06Hey, Ira, do the Raiders get an international game?
SPEAKER_05I don't think so. I don't think we will.
SPEAKER_03They're gonna play in Florida one time this year. They gotta perform a little bit.

SPEAKER_06I think that I think that doesn't what's crazy is Jacksonville. You know, because it's because they can't play asses in the seats there. The guys promise the community won't sell the team, but when you're begging them not to have the Steelers be an international game because it'd be the only one you sell out all year, there's something wrong with your attendance to begin with. And I I like Jacksonville. I want them to see, I don't want any city to lose a team like that, but damn. But I I'll tell you, I think the Raiders are intriguing enough based on draft, uh wholesale change. Now it might be might not be the Raiders playing Jacksonville. Yeah, I mean, that that could be it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Uh that could be it. I mean, I could see them in Mexico City playing. I mean, they have a huge fan base in Mexico, so I could see that that being a smart draw for an NFL.
SPEAKER_06I'm gonna say, and this I will close on the schedule before we get there. Let me tell you, they always the NFL's good about Cincinnati and Baltimore playing early and Pittsburgh and Baltimore finishing the season somewhere in there back and forth, and because usually those games have meaning, which is good. Um who do you open the season with? The Vikings, Rodney. Who do you believe it'll be? You think they'll start it with a uh conference, I mean a division game? I mean, they do in the AFC. I mean, in the the AFC North is old, Cincinnati and Baltimore are usually right up there. I could see us play in Detroit. Early. I could see us play in Detroit. How about you, Ira? Who do the Raiders open with if you're betting? I would think it would be the Charters. They do that quite a bit, too. Uh you remember a lot of times, was it last two years? Was it last year when the Raiders beat the Super Bowl people, right? Didn't they beat the beat the Patriots? Because two weeks.
