There's a guy in Richmond, Virginia named King Nutt. You could pull off several firsts and a second and maybe a fifth and a seventh because you've got that much invested in. He ended up on the radio now and then talking sports.
SPEAKER_02What happened on Saturday is not gonna happen on Sunday, just like what happened on Friday night doesn't happen on Saturday.
SPEAKER_01He's even got good life advice. If you slap your wife, you going to jail with this kind of talent. He needs a sidekick. We'll call him Fabio. And I like the way you're talking. With cell phone in hand, he's a sports talk freak show.
SPEAKER_04How are they gonna be able to bond as a team? And that defense hasn't proven anything. They're gonna be able to put up a ton of points, possibly, but how many are they gonna give up?

SPEAKER_02That's coming a little triple digits this week. I like triple digits dog. Should be nice. Like triple digits dog uh for nothing else other than uh It's because he's gonna sit inside. That's why he likes triple digits. Well, I can go do some stuff today. We'll get into that later. A lot of actions packed stuff since the last time we met a week ago. I'm gonna get into it here, but here's my first rant. I'm gonna ask you a question. You get 10 seconds to answer. Why in the Sam do every time I click the ESPN icon on my phone or on my computers the first highlight something about the WNBA, like somebody gives a sh. Why is that how a Fabio?
SPEAKER_05Well, it's NBA's great write-off, man. I mean, you gotta have something to uh show your losses, so they have to promote that as well.
SPEAKER_02Rodney? No clue. That's exactly why I say and here's what I'd say it. Watching it, there's I always admire the women's game, particularly at the college level, how much more fundamental they are than the men are, how much cleaner the game is. You get to the WNBA, it looks like the dudes playing, just not dudes, or maybe not. And I don't want to go off on a sideway, but this is out of hand. I don't give a damn who's mad the referees. I don't give a damn. Why in the hell would Scheffler being tied with Hoblin be the third highlight down? Nobody knows, nobody gives a shit. I'm going off on it right there. So, Weigel, you can wiggle some stuff out or throw them little funny sounds in there, but this sh is yeah, that sh is impossible. I'm done with this sh. Ira. Sub another road course this weekend. I thought was really good racing. What'd you see? Who'd you like and why?
SPEAKER_05It was really good racing, especially for a road course. I I think the most impressive driver all day was Ty Dillon. He was able to win both stages and then stay out. Obviously, if you win the stage, you get to pit under costume. He came out like 20th there in the last stage and drove all the way back up to second, I mean third place. He he was extremely strong. Uh kind of what we thought would happen uh with SBG dominating the race. But Chase Briscoe finally coming into his own, it looks like last couple weeks running really good in that Toyota. He put the pressure on SVG just like he did last year. He's just uh just a beat off of where he needed to be uh to be able to catch him uh in some of those breaking zones. But overall, I thought it was a really good show they put on. Uh Sonoma always uh does perform well. Some of the things that did shock me though, knowing Denny Hamlin's not the greatest uh road course racer, decided to short pit every time, meaning come in right before the stage break and didn't get any bonus points. And then got got turned there towards the end of the race by Coast and Hosevar and only ended up getting 11 points for the day and actually ran probably top ten most of the day, just has doesn't have anything to show for it. And Tyler Reddick finishing dead last, just had some um had some problems with the car that they couldn't work out and ended up four or five laps down. But uh overall, good race. Just uh SVG's um one win away from being the tying the most wins ever on road courses, and it's only in his third year. Uh if he could ever learn how to just turn left, he'd be a patch of hell.
SPEAKER_03So your guy that came in first and came out twentieth, would he change cars or something?
SPEAKER_05No, he was just that good. He was dominant. He had the best, he had a damn good.
SPEAKER_03He came in first in the pitch and came out twentieth.
SPEAKER_05That's not good. Yeah, it is. Because here's what happens is everybody else pits, like 18 of them pit before the caution comes out.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05On a road course, you don't go a lap down. So when he pits under caution, he's behind all of them. Right. So he actually drives up through the field once again. Right. So the pick crew wasn't bad.
SPEAKER_02Now, and let me let me tell you something.
SPEAKER_05Well, it's him getting those 10 points that he won. No, no, I'm saying normally. Normally it'd be really bad.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you wouldn't do it. I I because somebody's gonna listen habitually to do this all the time. What was your gamble this week? Uh you may tell you where I lost the six-pick race pool yesterday. Last minute change, John Hunter Nimachek for friggin' Ty Dillon. Oh. And Dillon looked good most of the race. I don't know what happened to him. He usually he looks like he's in reverse, and everybody else is going forward. And I had him because I had $5,700 left. He was $5,500. Nimacek was $5,700. I thought, man, why not spend the extra $200? Clearly, these people know something I don't know. So I pull out a Ty Dillon and it cost me, I'll put $100. He only finished 35th out of 36. Yeah, I appreciate it. Good weekend.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Hey, here's another thing we haven't talked about. I want to congratulate the Oklahoma Sooners on beating my Tar Heels in the World Series. And probably you can't really say it about football because if you're out, you're out, right? If you've had three losses in football, you're not making the playoffs unless you've lost to Alabama, LSU, and Georgia all at the same time. But Oklahoma probably had the most impressive run of a college sport in quite some time starting around that May 1st date to even get into the SEC thing and then go from there, and they walk the dog and they beat the brakes off of Tar Heels in the two games. They won, the Tar Heels did win the middle, so congratulations. I'm not mad. What is that, Ivory? The 11th time or 12th time Carolina's been there without winning it yet? They like getting to the big games.
SPEAKER_05They just don't like winning the big games.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I was asking Rodney about that with Duke. He didn't have much to say. But uh anyway, Rodney and baseball. The rest of North Carolina was rooting for Duke. The whole state was rooting for Duke. You know, the table here is a four-footer. I'm not a three-footer, and I got a 32-inch reach. So my fist will not connect by both microphones and hit Rodney in the face. So uh anyway, Rodney, baseball now. Red Sox just swept the Yanks, and the Red Sox are not good.
SPEAKER_03Red Sox are one of the worst teams in baseball. The Yankees through all four games were no hit through four innings. And they were no hit through seven and two-thirds last night by an ex-Yankee.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Two-thirds. I mean, the guy was uh uh out from being no hit eight through eight innings. Two outs in the seventh or in the eighth when he when he got the hit. Seven and two-thirds and no hit. What what's happening now? Now they're they're just Aaron Boone is gonna be gone. I think this will be his last year. Well, let me flip that. Boone's gone. How good is Mattingley in Philadelphia? And he wanted to be a Yankee. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Well, he wanted to he wanted to manage.
SPEAKER_02He's got Swarber leading the league and home runs from the leadoff spot. He's made this guy's calm as hell. He reminds me of Scheffler just as a manager. Or is it house money? Is Mattingly playing with house money because he'd enter him?
SPEAKER_05I think his house money and the way the season started, they was like, oh shit, can only get done away from it. And now look at them, they're three games back.
SPEAKER_03The hottest team.
SPEAKER_02We're clearly a week out of what we spoke last. Nothing's changed for you, I assume, though you still like the Brewers and Braves for you, and you like the Brewers and Dodgers.
SPEAKER_03Ironically, he likes to I thought you were Phillies and Dodgers.
SPEAKER_05He likes Brewers and Brewers or Dodgers. I like Phillies. I think they're going to come on. Dodgers by far, I think, are going to win the National League. What's got me puzzled is how that uh American League West is right now. I mean, everybody, even the Angels aren't. They're only six games out.
SPEAKER_02Pirates would be leading that division. They probably wouldn't. No, they would. They're 500, they'd be leading that division. I I gotta ask you before we get off this Rodney, both of you. This cat from Milwaukee that's hitting 105 on the gun and not throwing it over his head. He's throwing it like a three-quarter pitch. I was watching them on baseball tonight, uh not baseball tonight, it was a Fox show, Fox Sports, you know, and they were talking about that it's one thing if a guy's throwing 105. It's another thing if a guy's throwing 105 with little movement up top, but it's a little different than all of that when a guy's throwing 102, 103, and then he gets to 105 from a three-quarter motion and it's tailing at the end, it's moving. It's unhittable. If it's a schemes type thing, where's this kid been? What what got him to this point, Ira?
SPEAKER_05Are they measuring it different miles per hour than it used to be? Because I mean, 105.5 miles per hour is just ridiculous. I mean, is he that has the game changed that much since Nolan Ryan was a pitcher?
SPEAKER_03I believe they have changed the way they the way they measure that. I think the guns are more accurate. Maybe Nolan was throwing a little harder then. And it's something to do with from where it's released and where it's He also has a seven-foot release point.
SPEAKER_02They mentioned that too. The guy's throwing it from 60 foot six inches. No, no, it's at 53 foot six inches when he lets go of it. And by the way, it's 105 miles an hour. I ain't saying that shit is unhittable. I'm just saying, think of it this way. Think about it this way. I used to run let's give it five seconds to first base from a batter's box. I've cut it to about four and a half. It's a noticeable difference. From 100 to 105. That's on a 35-foot base. Yeah. That's a difference, man. What the hell? I don't know what to tell you. Ira, you gave me your two, and the uh you still like who in the American? The Yankees and the Rays?
SPEAKER_03The Yankees can't hit. I mean, they're missing they're missing Judge, but he he's not gonna be the whole difference in the world. But they've are so streaky. You catch them at the right time, you can be the worst team in the league and sweep them. Or you can be the best team in the league and they'll sweep you. Their whole year is gonna depend on how they are at the end of the year. But I think Boone's run his course. I'm really surprised he's at leash has been his line. He's already been fired twice. He'd been fired and rehired three times. Not sure he'd have rehired, he'd have hired Billy Martin. Yeah, he's back. He's in line now.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Martin died talking about. All right, let's move. Here's another topic I gotta ask you. In the name of uh let's go, Pete Rose, in the name of uh you pick those fallen athletes. The Bills announced this weekend they will not honor O.J. at their new stadium. He will not be in the ring. You know, they didn't take it down from the old stadium, but in the new one, he will not be recognized. They didn't even acknowledge that he passed. Yeah, well, is it the right thing, in your opinion, to remove his football accolades from his the other decisions? On the field, absolutely he should be there. Off the field, absolutely not. Hey, you and I had a conversation with Bench. He said that about Rose. Hey, the guy's one of my best buddies, love him to death, but he bet on baseball. He doesn't belong in the hall. A tough thing to say if you're uh somebody's buddy, right?
SPEAKER_03I get it. My son, uh giving you a different opinion, said, I can't believe that. And I said, Why? He said, Look at all the things that these players, look at Rudd, look at all these guys that have done these things. They come back, if they're good, they're gonna play. I said, Why is he being excluded? Well he's not agreeing with it, he's just saying from how they do things now, if they perform, they forget all that stuff.
SPEAKER_05I re feel the same? Yeah, I I I can understand both sides of it. And people aren't really good at departmentalizing life and sports uh separately. And I think if they see OJ's name there, it it doesn't become look what he did when he played for Buffalo. It's it's look what he did after that, and that's that's wrong. We all know that it's wrong. What shocks me is that the Hall of Fame hasn't they haven't took him out, he's still there, which they do a great job of departmentalizing. All when you look in there, it's about what they did on the field. It's never about anything else. So yeah, I understand, I understand why they did it, and uh, I don't blame him.
SPEAKER_02So the reason I started with that is I'm gonna get to this. Is Brandon Iuk as crazy as A B was?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And he's blaming it on his agent now, but this guy's sending his ex agent. Well, what what but he's sending out tweets and Instagram pictures about you know how bad the 49ers are and cut me tomorrow and I'll be with the Redskin or Commanders or whatever they're called this month, next week, you know, and the next day, etc. Uh he's not a Hall of Famer, but Antonio Brown is. In the spirit of the OJ thing, Ira, does A B get into the hall based on all the sh that how his career ended and the things he's done since?
SPEAKER_05I think he does. I like I said earlier, I think the Hall of Fame does a really good job of separating those two. What he did on the field definitely deserves to be a Hall of Fame, he's a Hall of Fame player, um, no doubt. I think I think he will. I I think it'll take a while. I don't believe he'll be a first ballot Hall of Famer, but he'll um Was his stats that though?
SPEAKER_02Were his stats as a receiver or first ballot Hall of Famer based on those receivers you've seen in the hall?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he he's better than a lot of them that are in there. But how about Owens and Carter, Chris Carter? They were in first ballots, and they had phenomenal numbers.
SPEAKER_02A B had the best five-year stretch of any receiver ever. No five years ever could you put a receiver in those stats. Now, he's bat sh crazy. Could be CTE, could be anything, or he's bat sh crazy to begin with. This kid Iuk is doing what today's athletes do, and they take it to social media like we give two shots.
SPEAKER_03A lot of teams pick him up.
SPEAKER_02Because they it's it's talent. That's exactly what he said. At the end of the day, they'll take you. I have played softball with guys before that were not favorable fellows. They weren't dugout guys, they weren't good. They maybe were a little off, but you know, if you could just deal with them playing right field or deal with them playing first base or deal with them playing middle infield, you would let it by. It runs its course though. And what happened to A B is when he talks shit, he gets to the Raiders, and he gets to the Raiders and realized, damn, I don't know that this is gonna work. So now I have a helmet issue, and now I have my feet are frozen and my hands suck, and now get me to the buccaneer of the Patriots. And he gets to the Patriots, and all of a sudden, hey man, I'm with TB. He's sane again. Then he goes in in Tampa and he's sane again. So then he goes insane. I mean, you know, it's back and forth. This IUC character is just another to me. The reason I brought it up is just another part of what we see from pro athletes. Everybody's got a podcast now, everybody has a YouTube show, everybody's got some kind of social media, and almost to the extent of my dear president, give somebody else your phone, jackass, and let them post the stuff so you don't sound quite as off as people think you sound. Now, I'll go back to the from the OJ thing. How many pieces, Ira, of OJ's career don't make him an instant haul ring of fame they call Hall of Whatever Hall of Honor, whatever the sh they have is. What makes him not able to do that if there's any other reason but his sh that he went through post-football? None.
SPEAKER_05That's the only reason he's not on there. I mean what he did on the field is yeah, it can't be questioned for the Buffalo Bills. I mean, first person rusher, 2,000 yards, that's in 14 games as well. Think about that. And the Buffalo Bills weren't good when he was there, and he was a standout player. The only reason he's not there is what happened off the field.
SPEAKER_03I think it would be interesting to get the perspective of a Bills fan, as you can talk A B, Steelers fan, you know him very well, get the perspective from someone that's a big Bills fan that's older, and see what they're thinking about.
SPEAKER_02Think about this. So when you and I and and Fabio saw OJ on the TV hurts and football playing, he was the there was that dude was insane.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02He was Barry Sanders before Barry Sanders. He was Earl Campbell before Earl Campbell. This guy had all of those traits wrapped into one. He's a football player. And he was funny as uh Nordberg on the naked gun movies. You know, heroin, Frank, heroin. No, it's a tall order, Nordberg. No, boat, ship. Oh, got you, got you. And when you get out of here, we'll go play some baseball. World Cup. I was able to place my hands on four World Cup tickets to Philadelphia's 5 p.m. July 4th game, of which I put them in the proper place for those people that enjoy those games to go. He later sent me a thing that said, Thanks. I can't believe this. Here's the same four seats in the row in front of us for sale at $3,150 per seat. So somebody is almost gonna spend $13,000 to go see goats run around and sing different chants from their country. All of those people are over in this country bragging and marveling on how great America is, and yet we got people that are fighting over how great it ain't that live here. So take that and shove it up your ass, the rest of America. I don't care anything about the World Cup. I hope America wins. I'm pulling when they play. I know they sh to bed against Turkey or somebody. And by the way, thanks ESPN for spelling turkey the way they spelled over there, instead of we spell it over here. It with dots over it and no whys and shit like that. It's turkey, damn it. It's just like what Swanson used to put in a frozen case and food line. It's called turkey. By God. But here's the question we're gonna finale through the end because I got some good ideas. I asked these fellas because I had a question come in from Facebook that said, Hey, there's gonna be something that happens during training camp, a trade, an injury, or something. You can't forecast it. You certainly hope nobody gets hurt, and you don't even have to call it by player. Rodney, I'll go to you first. What wild thing happens before training camp even starts that makes our football season look a little different?
SPEAKER_03Talk about Aaron Donald coming back. Okay. I like it. Now, in your opinion, does Aaron Donald return? At some point he will. I don't know that it'll be before training camp. I don't think he wants to go through any of that. But I think I believe he will make an attempt to come back and play beside Garrett. Got it.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Ira, what one wild thing do you see that happens? Steelers forfeit their first four games.
SPEAKER_05Five. I was thinking five. Oh, are they playing y'all in the fifth game?
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_05No Raiders game this week. No, not this year.
SPEAKER_03I was really glad to come out of that chair.
SPEAKER_05I keep going back to Rodney's team. Um, that quarterback room is in disarray, I think, right now. Um, but I'd see Kyler Murray not becoming the starter, which is he's probably projected to become the starter. I think something's gonna happen in in before the season, hoping that he's he's gonna be physically unable to do it. Whether he pulls something, gets hurt, whatever it'll be, but they'll have to go with uh JJ. And uh if they have to go with JJ, I think it's gonna be a long year.
SPEAKER_02There's two things you said about that, and that was one of the things I started to make my own was Kyler Murray is injury prone. So much to the fact you remember the time that he was uh he went biking with. Somebody and then he he strained quad or something, taking the bike off of the back of the vehicle, and he missed. So he's not a big fellow. And that that kind of happens. Here's something I'd tell you I think look to happen. I can't tell you who or why. I think there's going to be a Washington involvement. I think there's going to be a Philadelphia involvement. And I think there's going to be a Dallas involvement. So I'm going to say something big in the NFC East that's going to involve trades and external trades based off the one that started. So if Washington trades first and say it's for an outside edge rusher, Philly then trades to get a tight end or a tackle, and Dallas then trades to get something similar. And the whole time they're going to forget about Harbaugh and doesn't. I I think the whole time it's going to be somewhat of a similarly quiet time like it is when he was in Baltimore, and it's going to be sneaky good. And I'm not saying they're going to win the division. I'm just saying he's not going to react based on the other reaction. That's what I got. I got trades involving the NFC East. I do like the Kyler Murray thing. I still think that's intriguing. I do believe it doesn't matter. I I say this, I hate to kiss a guy's ass, but I don't care if you send Rodney up there to be the quarterback in Minnesota. He's going to be better than he was prior anytime prior to getting to O'Connell. Just remember this, folks. So Rodney's going to find a shady spot somewhere to practice because he doesn't like to be out in the sun. This bitch is Scandinavian. I'm telling you, this could be I got two Scandinavian grandsons that go on the beach look like the old 1930 women swimmers. And uh Rodney finds shade, even if it's one light pole that turns sideways, he'll lean against that pole.
SPEAKER_03I was in the sun as a kid forever. Used to care about getting a tan, don't care anything about it anymore.

My brother, actually, Tim Legler played at our high school, and Brandon, my brother, in his senior year, broke Legler's mark for free throws attempted in a game and free throws made in a game. He made 21, but he shot 35. So he shot 60%, and they lost a game by two. So if you give him any of those 40% that were missed, then by gosh, he's right where he needs to be.

Ira, what did you see through this tournament and what's going to happen to today's playoff? First, let's go backwards. Today's playoff, Rodney first, who wins it? Scheffler or Hamlin? Scheffler. Ira? I want it to be Scheffler, so I'm going to say Scheffler.
SPEAKER_05Okay, nothing. He's probably going to lose.
SPEAKER_02Tell me what you saw, the balance of the week there.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, all week. What Scotty has proven again, when he's on, there is nobody in the world as good as he is. And when he shot that 60, I think it was on Friday's round. It it's he had it all going. And it also shows when he doesn't have his best stuff like he yesterday, he's still one of the best in the world as well. Just a couple of putts here and there, an errant T shot or an errant iron is what's kept him out of winning this year. The grit that he showed after the rain delay yesterday is why people like Scotty. He'd come out, a hoblin was on fire. He birdied, I think, three of the holes that they had left uh coming in. And Scotty had some long par putts just to um not to have a two-shot swing on those holes. Especially that one that that last one, the eight and a half footer coming back with knowing how big that putt was going to be, knowing it was the last hole of the day. That's about the most you're ever going to see out of Scotty's, that little fist pump that he had at the end. I thought it was really cool. You could uh you could read Victor Hovlins' uh lips. He said, Hey man, good job. You know, which is pretty cool. They've they you know they fought, they was together for the last two rounds, watching each other's good shots, bad shots, and you know, congratulating each other there at the end, and they're gonna go back at it again here this morning at nine o'clock. But Scotty is by far the best golfer in the world when he's on, and he's still one of the best golfers in the world when he's when he doesn't have his best stuff just because he's that he's that talented.
SPEAKER_03How difficult is it gonna be to come out and it's sudden death? I mean, it's one hole can be over, could be three, four, five, six holes.

He's a putt first driver to low iron. Just changing routines. Guarantee you, I'm just betting he's the one with zero pressure, don't give a shit.
SPEAKER_03Well, he he's been there, been on the top, in my opinion. It's not even close, he's the best golfer in the world. Like Fabio said, even when he's off, he's still one of the best. And the way this year has gone, there have been so many opportunities for puts that could have gone in, but they didn't.

We became so accustomed to him being the best golfer in the world when he wasn't the best. We're like, what the hell's wrong with him? I said, what the hell's wrong? What do you mean what the hell's wrong with him? He's been the top ten every damn time. And that's bad for him? Okay. That's I mean, that you know, again, sports psychology says that's the only game on the planet you're not just playing yourself or another other people, you're playing yourself, and then you're playing your mind. Now, with that said, a lot of this week's pastime games that we're gonna pay attention to are gonna be affected by a heat wave that's gonna be insane. Ira, baseball as it goes to this 4th of July weekend, again, America's pastime, football's America's passion. Uh thank you, Big Al Coleman. How many games do you think are affected by that heat where it's noticeable for us, Ira?
SPEAKER_05If they got back to back Wednesday, Thursday, Thursday is gonna be gonna be a sh a challenge for those uh for those guys out there. Um hundred degrees plus uh standing out in it is the diff is the difference for all those hours. I think you're gonna see some uh some people wilt in that heat.
SPEAKER_03You're not soccer fans, and I'm not a big soccer fan either. I watch the world I mean the uh World Cup and the Olympics. That's about the only time I ever watch it. One of my son's best friends is a soccer guy, so we were watching the other night and he was talking about stuff. Can you imagine those guys playing in a hundred degrees? And I'm pulling some.

Because if Fabi's, he's got that sports package of his, it is baseball, NFL, MBA, hockey, soccer, and then he's got the goats grazing show, which he said he's through seven episodes now of the Netflix special. He went through eight last night. That's pretty good. I I think I'm gonna watch a World Cup this weekend just so I can see how people handle that kind of heat and that kind of stress on your body that's running. It's gotta be cramps, people gotta be drinking the sh out of mustard, pickle juice, and pedialite and gatorite, and what you know. It's gonna be tough.
SPEAKER_03But think also about the stress of what that means to those countries. Those guys are heartbroken.

SPEAKER_03He will start the year at number one. He hasn't finished a year in his career, so the odds of him staying healthy all year long and staying at the number one spot are very slim. Okay.
