There's a guy in Richmond, Virginia named King Nutt. You could pull off several firsts and a second and maybe a fifth and a seventh because you've got that much invested in. He ended up on the radio now and then talking sports.
SPEAKER_02What happened on Saturday is not gonna happen on Sunday, just like what happened on Friday night doesn't happen on Saturday. He's even got good life advice.

SPEAKER_03How are they gonna be able to bond as a team? And that defense hasn't proven anything. They're gonna be able to put up a ton of points, possibly, but how many are they gonna give up?

SPEAKER_02Three, two, one. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to yet another excellent, captivating, momentous edition of Don't Drop the Soap Sports. I am King Nutt, sitting in the capital city of the Commonwealth of Virginia, joined by my great friend Ira Fabio Peters, down in the greater western North Carolina area. Ira, what is going on down there? Just trying to beat the heat right now, brother. Oh. Has it been? It has been hot slightly. To me, just to me. Yeah, just slightly. I have places that retrieved and received sweat that I didn't know I had, to be frank with you. I sweat a lot anyway, as you well know. Uh I can walk through a damn food line store and sweat, but uh man, I went to church yesterday and I got there. I raised my hand and that wet the lady down next to me from under my arm. I had to keep my arms down. Yeah, bless her. That's what I did at that time. As you can notice, Brother Rodney Cole is struggling somewhere on vacation that started four days ago and may end in another nine. SPEAKER_02Oh, well, you try with do what you can. You know, I'm a champion in golf now. You know, I've told the people I'm gonna continue saying that. Not a lot of people can say that, but I am a champion. I'm gonna ask you a little bit about the John Deere Classic and what we saw yesterday as a final round ruse.
SPEAKER_03Not the most exciting tournament that we've seen all year, but the final round that Chris Godderett put up on the board was uh pretty special. Um par 71 golf course, he ended up shooting 62. Uh at the post minus 20, and just out on the range driving balls is what he was doing afterwards, waiting to see if anybody was going to tie him. And the man that's tied with him is coming down 18 and uh just dead pulls one into the water. The only guy that had a shot to tie him, and uh the only guy that was more shocked than the guy that hit it in the water was Chris Goddrop that he uh was able to come that far behind. He'd sit there over an hour waiting on everyone to finish. Um good tournament. Uh seems like they put on a good show for him, but Chris uh played one great round, uh, ended up finishing, like I said, minus 20, and uh got nine of them on sun on Sunday's round. So closed like a champ and uh deserved a win. I think that was his fifth win on tour. Uh, he's had a really solid year, good ball striker. I think he's somebody that's gonna be uh reckoned with in the upcoming years.
SPEAKER_02So to put it plainly, what you're saying is you had shot your normal rounder waiting on me, and I did what I normally do and found any any wetlands on the course. Well, yeah, I just didn't want to go that route. Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. Thank you so much, man. I appreciate you getting up. Now that you are a champion, I want to champion the bus. I gotta tell you, there's buses that uh won't even run over me anymore, man. I'm too thick to get under it. And so it just pushes me down the road and rips my hide off. Now let's switch a little bit. Let's go into NASCAR. Folks, I gotta tell you, yesterday I'm watching the race. I'm I'm actually enjoying myself. Uh had some crackers and cheese because Hell the World Cup had been on. Uh not that I was watching, I want to clarify that now, but uh just in honor of them to have some cheese and some crackers. I did not drink wine though. I did uh have a few uh rum and punch. Oh, it was great on a hot day. And then damn, the power goes out this storm. I'm pulling for Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott. I've got my pick six. I did have the winner. I did take both petty cars because I I had very little money left to spend. It looked like they were not embarrassment, but they were. Tell us what happened. What did you see in that race?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's the first race that I feel like that Chevrolet had started to catch up to Toyota on these drafting tracks. Um, William Byron was up front all day. Uh five-car Larson was up front all day. He was actually up in there leading when he uh spun out on himself and tore up the diffuser under the car, which helps with the uh aerodynamics on the car, so he wasn't competitive anymore. But William Byron ended up winning both stages um really handily. He had really fast takeoff speed, and the Toyota all the Toyota seemed like they were good on the long run. And there wasn't many cautions in the tr in the race, so it really played to their their strengths, uh, the Toyota camp. I think the turning point of the race was right there at the end, there was about 50 to go. Chase Briscoe comes in one lap before William Byron. He was a second behind him coming into the pits and comes out about a second in front of him. So that one extra lap on new tires got him control the race, and from there he was able to pull away from William Byron. But then the two teammates that he had chased trying to chase him down was Christopher Bell, which had an extremely fast car, and Danny uh Denny Hamlin had a strong car all day as well. Danny was just too far back to be able to catch him. He came out of the pits nine seconds behind, ended up being, I think, three seconds behind at the end. Just didn't have enough time to catch him. And you know, Briscoe started the year off rough. Last couple weeks, I said, hey, you need to watch out for him. He's um put on a second place last week and could have easily won that race if if um it put a little bit more pressure on uh Shane Van Gisbergen. But yesterday run a smart race. Um the cream of the crop is the Toyotes. They had seven of the top ten spots. That's the most they've ever put in the in the uh top ten in a race. And at Corey Haim, I mean, he's the kid that won uh the first race at San Diego a couple weeks ago, got him another top ten finish. The Gibbs boy was in the top ten. William Byron was the best Chevrolet by far yesterday, but Bowman, his teammate, was right behind him, and Ryan Blaney continues to carry the flag for the Ford camp. But um I do see the gap between the Toyotas and the Chevrolets getting smaller, but I don't see it between the Fords. If it wasn't for Ryan Blaney, the Fords would have had a horrible showing yesterday.
SPEAKER_02I I watched uh uh the guy that owns the Ram truck team, you know, and they started that series, that uh you know, reality show where they found their drivers and and that Tim Kineskis from Dodge and Ram had had really helped them. So they asked him, hey man, Dodge is coming back next week, to next year, next week, I hope. And he said, Yeah, you know, I right now I could tell you that's not the case. However, we want to be back in. And he said, Everybody knows what the problem is and why Dodge left to begin with. And and the guy says, uh, no, tell us, and he said, It's motors. He said, RAM is very easy. We could uh it's a spec motor, you got it's a different motor when you get to Cup. And they don't have anybody build motors, and the reason they withdrew to begin with is when Penske moved to Ford, they lost their engine builder, right? Because Penskey was building all the Dodge motors, even for the other team, the petties, all of them, the motors were coming out of Penske. However, there was hint again that Penske is not real happy since he has gone to Ford. And so there's an opportunity maybe to and Ford, who would have ever thought in racing that you would see them that far behind the other manufacturers? Uh it used to be Ford and Chevy before that in the 70s uh Dodge and Plymouth had a uh certainly a big presence and a lot of wins in championship, but it was most of that was driven off Petty and Baker and some others, but it's been a Ford Chevy game since call it 80, right? I mean, well, of course you had Buick and Oz will be on Pontiac and all that other shit. But it was a Chevy, just a different look. And then through the 90s and early 2000s, before Toyota got in it, Dodge got back, it was again Chevy and Ford that that did that. It's a Toyota dominated series right now, and Chevy, the one closest Ford, just doesn't look like it has anything to offer.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they're not competitive, no matter what type of track it's been this year. And Blaney must be one hell of a driver to be able to keep it that close, uh, that the way that he's done, because Logano's been struggling. I mean, he ran in the 20s all week, I mean, all the race. He may have, I think he finished 12-13th. That's not indicative of the way that car ran. So, you know, Keselowski, that team, but those cars aren't running well. Busher had he, I mean, they're all struggling.
SPEAKER_02Koslowski's Dodge's last championship or last, you know, the the final year they were in it. His dad was a lifelong Chrysler guy and and ran in anything, usually in the back of the pack because he was self-funded. He was making money, though. I think that Brad Koslowski would move Rouse Finway or whatever they call that team now to Dodge. But he gets there, but more to come.

SPEAKER_01You're listening to the Don't Drop the Soap Sports Podcast with King Nutt, Fabio, and Rodney.
SPEAKER_02Here's what we're gonna do, folks, for the next six weeks, no, five weeks, one week will be off there because we're all uh traveling. We're gonna take the NFL to camp and we're gonna do this quickly. About two minutes a team. We're gonna go by finishing order in the division, uh, and then we're gonna talk about those teams about what we see them as needed, had they met it, and then is there anything you would do right before camp to try to fix it? And we're gonna start with the three and fourteen last in the AFC East New York Jets, who finished 29th out of 32 in points for, and 31st out of 32 in points against. Uh their expected win and loss was 3.9 to 13-1, and they they got that. And I noticed, damn if Steve Wills is not back coaching, he's the defensive coordinator there. So, Ira, as I ask you, uh they were 29th in offensive ranking for yards, 25th in defensive ranking for yards. What do they need to do, Ira? What have they done if they've done anything and what do they need to do?
SPEAKER_03I thought they had a decent draft. Um I think Bailey, the edge rushers, he's gonna be a solid player uh in the NFL. They ordered him, I mean they got him, uh, ordered him. They uh drafted a good tight end. Uh Omar Cooper, they got as a wide receiver from Indiana. So I think their draft was pretty solid. Gino Smith's gonna be their starting quarterback. It looks like uh Gino's good years are definitely behind him. He's at best a bridge quarterback for them to figure out what they're gonna do into the future. But I see the offensive line being a huge problem for them uh as of right now. I mean, they're running, they have a good running back, they have good wide receivers, I believe, now. Just the offensive line is where I think they need to spend their spend their money and their secondary as well. Uh the back end of their defense struggled last year, and it'll continue to struggle uh this year if they can't get any pressure on the quarterback. But offensive line is where I think they need the most help to protect Gino and be able to get that their skill players uh perform for him.
SPEAKER_02I think Geno Smith is is really solid. A lot of people laugh at me and say that I'd take him. At least you know what you got at him. You know what I'm saying? And so I also had marked offensive line, if you can't run it and you can't protect him, it doesn't matter what you have. Now, I do think I gave Wills a little sh about, you know, hey, it's an opportunity. Now they they've changed all this, you know, all the coaching staff, everything's changed. I think they did for the first time in a while, did right by their draft, they did right by the picks they got coming. So they're building. I I would tell you if one word I could say before we move off the Jets is patience. And does the organization, the fan base, hell, they gotta have patience. They have one sh since the Vietnam War. I mean, to put it that way. So maybe maybe they need Joe Namath back. Yeah, did I mention America plays in the World Cup tonight, like you know, Mexico lost to England and France and all their fan support and all that. I mean, because show looking at New York here. Sorry, I got off on that thing. But uh, yeah, I I agree. I think the Jets need help up front, and I don't know that there's anything they can do before camp starts, any trades or anything to make it. Move on to Cleveland, and this is a really unique situation. So they had the 31st ranked offense, they drafted two quarterbacks. One of them was supposed to be, as Colin Coward said, who by the way knows nothing about sports, told the Steelers to trade every pick they had to move up to take Shador. Well, how'd that work for Cleveland? Not so well. And then Dylan Gonzalez, as I always called him, yeah. He he got more of the starts. Now it looks like through through the mini-camp, he's not even picking up a ball. It's Watson, it's Shador, it's the other kid. They drafted a kid out of Arkansas. You know, so who knows? Here's what I'd tell you 34st in points four, fourteen in points against that defense was good under Jim Schwartz, but they decided they're gonna move on from him, bring in uh Munken, who took the Ravens offense backwards, in my opinion, uh, with uh your boy MVP over there, as you and Zach like to call him there. They had a good draft, in my opinion.
SPEAKER_03They did a lot of things. I think right after the draft you said they didn't do brown things, and they didn't. They they really went for their needs versus and the best player versus trying to be flashy, which was good for them.
SPEAKER_02What do you see in them? A better team than it was a year ago when they were I do see them being better.
SPEAKER_03They went out and got uh some wide receiver help. I mean, I know they're they're new, but can uh Concepcion, they got him, they got they drafted Boston. Their defense was solid, and then they what did they go and do? Get rid of maybe one of the top five best players in NFL last year by getting rid of Miles Garrett. So uh that defense is going to struggle a little bit. I don't know who they got to replace him. I haven't dug that deep into it, but their defensive line.
SPEAKER_02That trade they they got the kid from the Rams back in the trade. Yeah, verse. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And he's good. Really good. He's just not Miles Garrett good yet. So I don't think anybody is. No, no, very few, very few people on the planet are. Their quarterback's gonna be very volatile. They'll start the massage therapist uh, you know, as their starting quarterback this year, uh, with Shadur sitting right there behind him, waiting for him to mess up. But I still see that defensive line is gonna be a going to be a struggle. I I do like what they're doing. I I they'll be marginally better this year, but I still think their defense needs a little bit more help.
SPEAKER_02I just got a flash, by the way. They canceled flights out of Boston last night because they were out of fuel. Ground stop was lifted this morning after fuel system issue. And I'm gonna bring that up because I don't think there's any fuel to this offense that was Cleveland a year ago, but they did draft two receivers. They did. I think they're gonna put Watson back into the to the start and roll. Remember they beat the Steelers last year, which made the Steelers have to beat the Ravens in the last week. Yep. I firmly see Cleveland winning some games this year that's gonna mess other people's seasons up.
SPEAKER_03They're really good for that.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. They really are. Just know your spot and just lay down. But they don't do that. You know what I'm saying? Like they've fighting. It's almost like they're getting paid. Yeah, we've sucked for six weeks. Let's go out there and throw one and wrench in somebody else's ass. So I, you know, I do agree they've gotten better. Again, I'll say this, and it'll be funny for people to say, oh, he says the same channel every team. You gotta be patient, and Cleveland has not been. They've done stupid things with drafts, they've done stupid things with trades, they've fired coaches, they've hired coaches. Man, just give it a second. You know, you're not gonna win the Super Bowl because you're the Cleveland Browns. Just sit on it and wait what happened.
SPEAKER_03You talk about the patience of these eight teams, seven of them. Seven of them have new head coaches. Yeah. These teams aren't known for patience, but we'll see what happens. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, let's move to the south and then you go to Tennessee, which finished three and fourteen. You remember they fired Vrabel, got to have Vrabel out of there because clearly that was a hold up and then he doesn't know what he's doing. He doesn't go to the Super Bowl with a team that was three and fourteen the year before. So he clearly doesn't know what he's doing. But a lot of times, you and I have said this many times before, NFL is so volatile the way the cap works, the way free agency works, you can bring your team from the mitts back to relevance really quick. You know, a couple trades, a couple drafts, etc. Here's where you're gonna get kind of weird in this team. This is similar to the Jets. They were 30th in points for and 28th in points against. Now, the nose tackle Sebastian Day is now a member of the Steelers. That was one of the things they did well was stop the run, make people have to beat him in the past, but you take your nose tackle and you s let him go in free agency. They're rebuilding. They got a young quarterback that can do some amazing things with a ball in his hand. They got some drafts with some receivers, they got some free agent movement. Did they get any better at all, or is this still years in the making?
SPEAKER_03This team is years in the making. Robert Sala's gonna be good for that defense. Um he's gonna be able to scheme better uh than what they have in the past. But if they can't fix that offensive line, I think Cam Ward spent more time on his back than he did um throwing the ball last year. Uh they did get him a wide receiver, they drafted Tate, which is gonna be good for them. But if they cannot keep that kid upright, he's gonna he's gonna have a short NFL career for one. And um the the team will not be successful. And I just don't think they've done enough to uh do anything to off to make that offensive line mar better or even marginally better. Uh they just need to to figure that part out because like you said, Cam can do a lot of things, but he can't do it when he's running for his life and uh just doesn't have the the confidence to stand back there and look for his second and third uh options. He's always looks like he's the first guy hitting open, he's taken off. He's just scared for his life back there is what it looks like. So offensive line definitely has to be fixed.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I I would also tell you to close on on the Titans. I think to make a an organizational turnaround, it needs to start on the defensive side of the ball first. You have to be able to stop somebody to be able to give your young quarterback a chance. Right? You gotta be able to run it, you gotta be able to stop and run, you gotta be able to stop somebody. I think Robert Silo will change that a little bit. Keep in mind I've made mention of this guy over the years we've done this podcast about what if y'all had what if the Steelers would have had him as a defensive coordinator instead of Terry. Austin, who is somewhere. I think he went to Arizona, ironically. Uh we'll get into that a little bit. I I don't think the Titans get much better than their their record a year ago. So that takes us to your boys.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02The three and fourteen Las Vegas Raiders, who were 32nd of 32nd for points four, and twenty-fifth out of thirty-second for points against. And Danfis Steelers didn't hire that guy as a defensive coordinator. You needed him. Now he was better than seven other weeks. Here's what I'd tell you though. Everything I read about him says that he knows what he's doing, and he's done more with less in every stop he's had, and they think he'll be really good with this defense he's got in Pittsburgh. I'll leave that there because I did go back and look at some of the games. The Raiders were in a lot of games last year. Yeah, we were they were. They just couldn't have one last stop or they couldn't get a field goal. You know what I'm saying? Like they couldn't get to field goal range to make the field goal. So it three and fourteen could have very easily the way I saw it what I was looking at could have been seven and ten, could have been eight and nine even. They got better. They drafted better. They got the number one pick in the draft who I think uh you according to you, as a fan, may sit and watch Kirk Cousins a little bit, which may be a good thing for him, but they got the consummate pro in Kirk Cousins. They got somebody who understands what they're ready to do and what his role would be for that. Tell me what do they needed to address that they didn't, and then what was most impressive about what they did address?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, what I what I wish they would still do is go out and get a a big number one, uh, like a George Pickens, someone of that nature. They went out and got Jalen Naylor, but he's not he's not a true number one. They I don't think they have a true number one. They got Tucker, they got uh Jack Beach, they got Jalen Naylor. That's their their number one is is Brock Bowers, uh to be honest with you, is their tight end. But they need someone on the outside to be able to stretch the defense, and they haven't they haven't accomplished that yet, I don't believe. Offensive line, they they touched on it, but um they continue they should continue to build that. Uh they did get a center in the draft. We'll see how that plays out. It doesn't seem like we they've done enough, but they did do a lot on the back end of the defense through the draft, which was uh definitely needed uh to be able to uh to stop him, to be able to get the ball back. And I think their best acquisition was Kurt Cousins, to be honest with you. He's he's over two years out from his Achilles injury. If you look at everyone that's come back the first year that they come back, they struggled. Obviously, Kurt struggled last year at Atlanta when he got the play. Just felt like he didn't have the confidence in his Achilles to be able to go out and play the football the way he can. I think you'll see a different version of that this year. Uh, he's not gonna need to throw the ball 30 to 40 yards downfield because they don't have the talent to do that. But he he is a good pro. And I think his ego and I think Fernando's ego, they're going to be very complimentary to each other. And I think Fernando will learn a lot from Kurt this year. And if the Raiders are doing really good, Kurt will play deep into the year, uh, if not the entire year, I believe. And if they start to struggle, maybe they're towards the end of the year that you put Fernando in to see what uh see what he can do. But uh I like what they've done. I think you're right. I think that last year they could have been an eight and nine team. I think you're probably looking somewhere around that again this year. Uh if they do that, that would be a giant step forward for that team.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I would also tell you, too, that them and the next team we're gonna talk about are ones that I think are gonna be kind of Cleveland noisy. Meaning, I think the Raiders got a look when when you change an organization philosophy, you you know what I'm saying, you you make them think, hey, look, this is not acceptable. The just win, baby, days are coming back. You know, we're we're gonna build some kind of black and gold black and silver, sorry. That's my we're gonna build some kind of silver and black. They always say silver and black first, some kind of attitude that shows we're ready to win. I do think they got the most versatile offensive weapon maybe in the league in Bowers. You know, he can be out in as a you know flanker, he can come in the tight end position, he can go in the slot, he can do a lot of things. I think they're gonna utilize him a lot better. I I do think that the Raiders double their win total is not even a bet. I'm saying they get right to that 500 number. It could be eight-nine, could be nine and eight, and a lot of that has to do with the rest of the vision will get in. But uh I do think they did good things in the draft, unrater things. I do believe 100% that there is a need for a number one, and you mentioned a name like George Pickens, what a fit for a guy that's lost his mind than to go to Las Vegas. You know what I'm saying? There's no sh a guy that's off his rocker to begin with needs to be out in Las Vegas. So man, what what kind of party could he have? Oh, gee, many crickets. One that I'd go to. I gotta go to Vegas.
SPEAKER_03Maybe the biggest maybe the biggest thing that happened to the Raiders was Max Crosby not going to the Ravens. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, I mean, hell could be the best thing for him. They took the center from the Ravens. There's a and then we'll get to the Ravens later. I uh people see them. They're still the number one odds to go to the Super Bowl by Vegas. I I'd I'd take those odds. They ain't worth it. I'll we'll get to that. I'll get all cockeyed like that over. This is the World Cup's on, damn it. Uh let's move the NFC and we're gonna go to the team that I think of the eight that we're talking about are the most intriguing, and that is the New York football giants, who were four and thirteen, a seventeenth of thirty-two in points, and that's because a lot of those games, wild like Denver, they got I don't know how they did what they did there, but they, you know, would put up these clusters of points late in games. But they were 26 of 32. They get a new coach in Harbaugh who was a special teams coach prior to his head coach job, so you know they're gonna get better on special teams immediately, spends a lot of time on it, but defensively they're gonna get a lot better. What did you see by the way they draft in trade? Because remember, they trade their first round uh or the Bengals trade to get their big defensive lineman to the Bengals, which I thought with his production last two years, we was living off name alone. Get rid of them and take that pick. How do you think they did in their draft and and the free agency market?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like I like what they did in the draft. Um they it was very hardball-ish going uh defense, defense, defense is what it felt like. Greese is going from Ohio State is a phenomenal talent. I think they got him at five. He could have easily been the top pick, I think, in the draft going to the Jets. So I really like what they've done. They're solid on offense already. Uh Scatterbow's a good, he's a good tough runner. You got Malik Neighbors, you got Jackson Dart. I mean, they have a lot of talent out on there. What I still feel like they need, and they haven't addressed enough, is their secondary. They they did draft the kid in the second round, but they still need more help on the back end because that's where they really got burnt last year, uh, was on the back end of it. They did decent as far as getting putting pressure on the quarterback, but it just seemed like that the the secondary couldn't hold up. The Giants will be good. The Giants won't be an explosive team uh like the greatest show on turf. And they won't be anything like that. If when they win and if they win, it'll be ugly. And Harbaugh that so they'll be a tough team, they'll be a very disciplined team, I believe, but um they're still gonna have to work on that secondary, and they're in a tough division, too. So uh they're just gonna have to figure out um how to how to win some of those games and win them ugly.
SPEAKER_02I agree with that, but I also tell you, I think uh, folks, I'm saying it now, they're gonna spoil some people this year, and I think they're gonna be a nine and eight team, and they're gonna win a lot of 17-16 games. Uh he knows how to deflate the ball well and win with his team. I I'm I hated him when he coached the Ravens. I I think that Ravens did him shitty different than the Steelers did Tomlin. I mean, you can't help a guy can't make a kick. The kid you've been bragging on that that you draft him and he replaced the living legend, Mr. Massage number two. Let's move on to the Detroit Lions and we'll do this quickly. That was a team we didn't see that we would want to be down there. You know, they got the Vikings, and so they said it's their nine and eight third, but uh hell, let me make sure I'm looking at the right thing here. I believe that was what I said, and I am correct there. It does show the Lions in last place at nine and eight. Vikings at nine and eight, but they gave the Vikings the push. Uh Detroit has a guy that did some stupid sh was a number one pick in the secondary, so they're looking for some secondary help. But did they do anything otherwise that made you think God they're they're on to something here?
SPEAKER_03I think they got a little worse this year. That was a team that I thought would go really far last year. I think if you go back and listen to when we was talking in season, you'll see how stupid I was in picking the lines to end up winning that division several times. Uh but just they got worse. They they lost they lost David Montgomery to free agency. Their windows seemed to have closed on them and because the talent are in that division is getting stronger. Their biggest acquisitions, they got the uh Cade Mays that is the center. I mean, that's that was their big splash in the in free agency. They didn't have a whole lot of draft capital, first of all. So they didn't do a whole lot in the uh in the draft. That's a team that I feel like is stayed about where they're at. They're their record, they wasn't a last place team by by any means in that division. Or yeah, but they um they haven't done anything to uh to impress me this year.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I I'd also tell you, too, they were fourth of 32 in points scored. So what they knew, and a part of that was Campbell's balls. That guy would go for it on fourth and sixteen anytime. But they were 22nd of 32 in points against and had slipped. Because remember, when you lose Aaron Glenn, and you what's the name of the kid that went to the to the Johnson goes to uh Chicago, uh, you'd think they'd get worse. Defensively, they did. Offensively, they were right where they were a year ago. Uh, I think we have seen the last of the lines that that windows closed, and I think your boy is on his way to yet another job. So Yeah. The Lions will be looking for a head coach, you're saying that. Yeah, yeah. And the shittiest part of that is that is the sad fact about the league, is a win now league, and it is a copycat league. Keep in mind, look how many receivers and corners are getting drafted now. Where in you and I's days they drafted linebackers and running backs. So it's a little bit different. So we go the South and the Saints were 6-11. To me, a surprising 6-11. I didn't think they'd win. I didn't think they'd lose a damn game. They were 28 to 32 in points four. They were 16 of 32 in points against, which means they slowed them down. Uh something that most people wouldn't have given them the chance to, and particularly because they went to Kellen Moore as a head coach, an offensive guy, they really didn't have their their single biggest weapon, the kid uh from Ohio State, that's uh uh Chris Olave uh hurt. You know, they they didn't Camara hurt. I think I graduated with him. Uh he's old as shit. Uh his teeth look a lot better than mine. They're gold, mine are fake, just white, fake, you know, just a bridge. As long as they work. Yeah, they they chomp. That's how it works. Uh, what did you see in them draft-wise, free agency? Uh I think they got a little sneaky better.
SPEAKER_03And what's crazy is uh uh Tyler Shug, the quarterback, I didn't think he was gonna be much, but man, when they put him in, that offensive click last year, uh the gadget player, Tyson Hill. I mean, they could they continue to utilize him in in special ways. You talked about uh the running by getting old. That I wish they would have addressed that a little a little bit in the in the offseason. Uh they didn't do anything there. Their secondary is weak, they needed some help there. That team can sneakily probably come in and compete in that division to win. It's not like uh anybody runs away in there. The Buccaneers aren't running. I mean, nobody runs away. Uh so they're all there. That it's there for the taking. I do like what they've done. I like Kellen Moore. I think he's a good play caller, I think he's gonna be a good head coach, I think he's a solid person for that team. So I like what they've done. Uh I just wish they would have thought about their running back, who's gonna help them out there, and also their secondary.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and here's what I'd tell you too. The Kellen Moore thing is intriguing to me because I think Chuck graduated with me too. When he got out of college, I thought he was 31 or 32 when he got done playing. So he's not a young rookie by any means, but he he played with some poise at times when they look like they were getting him killed. You know what I'm saying? So that division's so wide open. More to come as we cover the other teams in that division, but I think they're there. And lastly, as we close, other than the World Cup, who I don't give a sh about, um, but America does play tonight, and I'll be pulling for them. France brought a lot of fans instead of helping us in the Strait of Harmooth, and England beat Mexico, and some other happened, and somebody got a red card, and Trump called them and said, Give me a red card, or I'll find this referee and we'll have another discussion. Here's the one that I think should be the easiest for us. They were three and fourteen, the Cardinals I speak of, twenty-third of thirty-two in points four, and twenty-nine of thirty-two in points against. Uh, they were one and a half games less their predicted win or expected win. They were at five, four, they won three. I mean, they got a quarterback hadn't showed up yet, another quarterback they drafted, don't know anything about. I is this in disarray?
SPEAKER_03100%. I don't know what they're doing. They obviously don't know what they're doing either. I mean, they who's gonna be the quarterback? Is it Brissett? Is it Gardner Minshew? Is it you? Uh, is it gonna be back to the guy that they drafted? That he kind of reminds me of that dude off of uh Ice Age.
SPEAKER_02He reminds me of a Flacco that there's no pulse rate there. I look at him and think, dude, are you going to a dispensary that has the best shit on the planet? Because you clearly have no expression of anything whatsoever. Toughest division in football, too.
SPEAKER_03We we we we agree that they have no chance right now. No chance.
SPEAKER_02I am saying on a limb and a whim, that three and fourteen doesn't improve. It doesn't. This is the worst team in football. I think so too. And and by the power rankings, they have them one step better than the New York football jets. Okay. I'm sorry, the Miami Dolphins, who uh we'll get to them too. I think they're good. So uh there you have it. Those are our last place prognostications of where they were, where they're going. Again, what we're gonna do is cover all 32, eight at a time over four weeks, and then we're gonna get down to where we're gonna cluster divisions. We're gonna do two divisions a day. Uh, we'll do the east and east, the west and west, etc., etc. But I would tell you that uh good golf coverage by my man Fabio from the hills and sticks of Western Carolina, who, by the way, do not go play a member guest at his club because he knows all the creeks and sh that I would find and he would beat you and take your money. Also, the race, I thought was a very good call on that race. We we got a lot to see here. This Dodge thing is getting intriguing, and only because, not because I'm a Dodge guy, that's part of it, but the other thing is I want to see which one of these teams leap. Like, do the Ford guys just say on this, I'm out. Toyota guys say they're great, but I'm the least of them. Let me go be the most for somebody else, or is a team like Childress ready to go because Hendricks is getting all the money from Chevy? We will see. And then football, I thought great on all your breakdown of that. However, I'd like to see when we get into these next ones that are going to be kind of difficult. Remember, even the fourth, so we had a tie there, the Lions and the Vikings, but the fourth place were relatively easy. As we get into some of these threes and twos, there were a lot that were right there together, tied, if you will. You know what I'm saying? Like they that you could have placed them anywhere.
