There's a guy in Richmond, Virginia named King Nutt. You could pull off several firsts and a second and maybe a fifth and a seventh because you've got that much invested in. He ended up on the radio now and then talking sports. What happened on Saturday is not gonna happen on Sunday, just like what happened on Friday night doesn't happen on Saturday. He's even got good life advice.
SPEAKER_01You slap your wife, you're going to jail. With this kind of talent, he needs a sidekick. We'll call him Fabio. And I like the way you're talking. With cell phone in hand, he's a sports talk freak show.
SPEAKER_04How are they gonna be able to bond as a team? And that defense hasn't proven anything. They're gonna be able to put up a ton of points, possibly, but how many are they gonna give up?

SPEAKER_04Man, we've uh dodged a lot of rain. Got a lot of rain. Got a lot of sun. Got a lot of wind. We got a little bit of everything. But it's nice. You can tell the fall's not that far away, but it's rolling in.
SPEAKER_03If you ever see me sweat, you need that fall rolling in. So yesterday it rained so I'm going to my father-in-law's 95th birthday party. I was at the pool with my kids and grandkids. All my kids were in town. We're at the pool. We come back just prior to a rainstorm. It's a beautiful 80 degrees. I go inside, shave my head, shower, change, start to take things to the car for my wife. And then I needed the Jerry Tarkanian sweat towel. Because it was rolling, brother. I had beads on my head, look like turtle wax, could have ran a commercial on that son bitch. Tell me about golf this weekend, buddy. What did you see first in the men? Then he got a little twisty episode on the women's golf that we never talk about.
SPEAKER_04That's true, that's true. So we had Rocket Mortgage up in Detroit this week. Michael, I'm gonna try to butcher this name, but Theorn Bornson come victorious. His first PGA win. Uh 25-year-old. What surprised me about how he played, you had Xander Shoffley really chasing after him. And Xanders played a good final round, shooting minus five, but Bjornsen shot minus five on the back Sunday coming in. So played a great round, ended up shooting a little minus seven for that day. Shot a six bogey free 63. So really played well. Really a ho-hum kind of a tournament. A lot of the big names were not there. I'd say Xander was probably the biggest name that was um in the tournament. You had a little Ricky Fowler show up and then a little Ricky Fowler. Ooh, I could have rhymed it, but I didn't. Uh a go nowhere kind of a guy. Uh he hasn't won in three years. That's fully on me, by the way. I'm giving a second. I'll give it a second. Go ahead. Well, that's good. But he did tie for eighth, so minus twelve. He he he did show up, which was awesome for him. But uh kind of a ho-hum tournament, like I said, but uh congratulations for Michael. That's his first win. But man, the one to watch was the uh the women's open over in um Royal Lithum. Great golf tournament. Uh Shiho Kuwaki is who ended up winning from Japan. The crazy thing was, man, she she came back from five down on the in the last round and was up one sitting in the clubhouse, just sitting there. She'd been sitting there 25, 35 minutes. Uh the only people could catch her, hit it on the green, probably 40, 45 feet away. And Esther Hazlet drains it from 40 feet away to go into a playoff. On Esther? Yeah, on oh, on Esther from Germany now. So you don't want to mess with her too much. She'll probably whoop your ass. With a Bible, you heathen. But man, went through two playoff holes. She hit it in trouble on the first hole, got an amazing up and down to push it into a second hole, and really um Esther hit it in some some bad spots and had the actually she hit a good shot. Didn't hit a bad shot, but it hit a patron. That's that's what they called at the Masters, but it hit uh hit a fan and it bounced into the gorse bushes, which is about impossible to hit out of. But she got it back out and just couldn't get the couldn't get it up and down for par. But a great tournament, man, for those congratulations to her. It's her first major win. Just uh an exciting golf tournament to watch. Um, if you ever have a chance to watch those ladies in person, they are amazing how they can uh strike the golf ball. I think they're more consistent than most of the men that are out there. They just play within themselves, don't let the moment get too big, and they're just a joy to watch.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they they are just like every other sport we play together, they are far more disciplined, far more fundamentally sound. I I'll tell you, Jan Stevenson, the prettiest pro ever, and somebody I'm still enamored with. I think she's 36 years old now, but uh I met Jan in 2006 at a golf tournament and have been playing with her ever since. Here's kind of a novelty for you. You can imagine with me, Ira, I'm not gonna play with just one ball during a captain of choice round. In fact or a hole. I may not play a hole with just one ball in a captain choice round. But I did watch Jan Stevenson who was there at Turf Valley to do the golf network analyzation or analyzing for a women's tournament, and they'd stick around on the Monday at Safeway would have them there. Jan became my partner uh out of osmosis the first time, but only would request us to play with beyond that, which was awesome. But I saw her walk into the pro shop and look at the caddy or the the pro there and say, Hey, may I borrow a ball? To which he looked at her and said, What? And she said, May I borrow a ball. He said, You want to borrow a ball? And she said, Are we having an English interpretation issue here? I know I'm Australian and you're Maryland, but uh I need a ball. He goes, Well, what are you gonna do with it? She goes, I'm gonna go play my round, I'll bring it back to you. To which he laughed. And I thought, Some bitch not know Jan Stevenson is a great golfer and money on the ice. She took that ball, we won that tournament, and she gave that some bitch back to him at the end of the day. And I wish then that I had a Blackberry, not an Apple phone, so it wouldn't record. I wish I could have had that on video or something, because that guy sh his pants when she handed it back and said, Thanks for this. We won, by the way. And here's the ball that I played the entire and Turf Valley's full of water. So I couldn't play with one ball. The women are fun. Her ball striking, I think then, probably seriously, I was probably my age now, maybe 57, 58 years old. Now? Then okay, yeah. She's 74 now. Yeah, but I'm telling you, she's the hottest seven. I don't know, let me go down there. I'm telling you, though, at whatever age she was in her late 50s, her ball, uh she it was insane. And she was a little weirded by today's new American or LPGA players because she thought they got a lot more than she did. She said back in her day with the women, she had to book her own trips. She didn't have anybody traveling with her. I mean, half some of these girls on tour now are less than 18. They're young girls playing. Uh, particularly the Asian fashion of the Americans, you know. Um, but it's fun go they're just it's just like basketball or softball, they're just fundamentally sound. When when they commit to playing sports, they are just they're committed to it in a different way than a than a a boy is, in my opinion.
SPEAKER_04I agree with you. But speaking of fun, have you seen The Hawk yet?
SPEAKER_03Hell yes. I watched Linda went out of town one night. She stays by herself quite a bit when I'm gone. I can't do this sh without her. I've got to be honest with you. I'm downstairs with a pimento cheese, low carb roll, and a bottle of bourbon, and I watched the first episode, and damn if I didn't drain the whole thing all night. And that that is Will, you know, Will Ferrell hadn't done much lately that wasn't cameo. This is he's in it now. You know, there's another golf shelf guy I was telling you off the air was uh one of the Wilson brothers. I think it's Luke or Luke, his son has passed, and he he becomes a drunk and falls off of being number one on tour, and then he takes up a young kid as a caddy and a coach, and they start hitting the road and he starts winning. There's some of that in it. There's a little happy Gilmore to it, you know, with the Chubbs dying and this. That actor that plays his first caddy is one of my favorite actors. I can't think of that guy's name, but he is funny as sh in everything he does. And and so I like how they bring real golfers into it too, you know. But could you see like only he could pull that off? You know what I'm talking about? Like the way that thing went down. Did you like that part?
SPEAKER_04I liked it. I thought it was funny enough. It was serious. It was it was cool. Yeah, I liked how they how they did all of it.

SPEAKER_03Now, I I'll ask you, Ira, here we are in the hundredth. What have you seen or liked so far? What do you what do you have any favorite memories to this point? We'll get into it next week, but just anything that how about your first episode?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I was thinking back. We we we talked about it was a two-minute, a two-minute fire take, I think.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it was uh it was a fire take by uh Fabio, two-minute, and we never did this in under five.
SPEAKER_04And then it kind of kept going and kept going and kept going. But I just think when Al was bringing up whatever it would be, you could hear him digging, digging not only through his brain, but digging through uh notebooks and finding information, just seems like he had everything other than an internet uh using to find stuff, which was cool because he was right most of the time.
SPEAKER_03Hey, he I can tell you this, you you have never seen it personal. I have at his sports bar and then doing the radio show with him. Al Coleman has years of spiral notebooks that he would make notes in and tape articles to from the paper. So every morning, four o'clock, he'd go get the USA Today and the Richmond Times dispatch, look through sports, put down some a uh taped those articles he thought were relevant, always had a hot take on it, and frankly, didn't give a sh what anybody else thought, which is what this is intended to do. Again, one of the reasons why we named it Don't Drop the Soap Sports has nothing to do with a prison shower. It has everything to do with not beholden to anything. We're not dropping the soap. We're going to the shower by ourselves, and if our opinion's one way, it's one way. If our opinion's the other, it's the other, and we don't give a sh who cares from a national. It's almost like uh watching all the stuff that's going on with ESPN, the people being fired, Ryan Clark's got a take on why, Cam Newton's got a take on why. We're not beholden to that. We're just a bunch of lumps just talking about sports having a good time here. It's something we'd be doing anyway. Yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah. But now we get to do it over this great and our engineer Chris Weigel, awesome. Um, how he set you up from there, me from here, and Rodney, and I'm getting my my new microphone shield covers that my grandkids thought would be good to rip in half while their parents said nothing. Yeah, we'll get into that later. Uh one thing I'm gonna do here is I I got some wild hairs, and I started thinking about something. Really, what what's happening? You see Debo Samuel going back to the 49ers. Yep, I saw that. At 30 years old, it feels like he's been around a lot longer, but yeah. And then Tyreek Hill is gonna end up somewhere that's gonna blow somebody's mind. I I just I just can feel it somewhere, even though he's not ready to play. And two other ones you got Keenan Allen still out there, and Stefan Diggs is still out there. Now, Diggs is the one I was gonna get to. It's like you read my in mind. Sorry about that. That's all right. I will you don't want to be in there, and it's sad that you even got there. So, I mean, it's it's sad for me. Um Real sad. Yeah, because here's why. I was the one that screwed, we'll get into football, but I want to tell this I was the one that screwed Ricky Fowler up this weekend because I'm a fan. Love him. My kids and I are watching Saturday, and we had just turned it on, and he had made a three-hole run of birdie birdie birdie to get back to fourth place, and he's only two shots out. And I say, Man, this kid is still playing well. I don't know why he doesn't win anymore, but I'm pulling for him because you know I caddied in that group, and clearly that meant we were best friends. He probably, if I walked up to him now, he'd probably get security after my ass. But at that time I thought we were buddies. Damn if off the T-box he doesn't hit three lone patrons by themselves on the other side of the hit that gal right in the leg, ball drops, and the next ball he shanks and pulls into the bunker and goes double bogey. And my son, clearly, smart ass from my loins, says, Oh yeah, that's exactly he's really striking it well. Like he goes, That looked like you playing this course. And I thought, You some bitch. So I changed it and we started watching pickleball or something, just uh I didn't want to have it anymore. Anyway, well, back to football. I'm just telling you, you don't want to be in my mind. So uh Diggs is the one, and here's what I'm seeing. Uh and tell me if you think I'm just off my rocker when I get to this. There is someone somewhere that Diggs is gonna pick to go to, or they're gonna pick him, and even though there's always been some sh around him, it's gonna be an unbelievable season for him. And he and and follow me when I say this. I don't know if that is the Giants where Harbaugh says, hey man, after this couple weeks of prayer, I can't we need another weapon there. The Dolphins, where he has no state income tax, and the Dolphins be better than people thought they were, or him helping this, you know, Willis become a better quarterback, or do the rich get richer and he finds a way to go out to Seattle with Jigma on the other side there. Diggs to me is gonna be the news. What says you?
SPEAKER_04I think he's gonna go somewhere where there's a st already a number one. If I you know, in early in his career, he was a hundred percent a distraction. Not recently. He I mean, last year he played for the Patriots. You all he did was play football. I mean, he was a thousand thousand yard receiver, all of that. I believe somewhere like Washington, they you know, they have a number one already uh with Scary Terry. I think he would fit, I know he would fit in well there. You got Jaden Daniels, if he can stay healthy, uh he would be great in that one. Uh Kansas City, he would fit in wonderful in Kansas City. He he has he has to go somewhere where he's not the number one. And I don't believe that a team like the Rams or the or Seattle, they they don't need him. But Washington does, Kansas City does, those type of things. If I'm guessing, he probably ends up in Washington.
SPEAKER_03I appreciate the don't need, but I like the luxury pick sometimes where somebody says, Hey, I got JNS. I uh or you know, I want somebody to just take something off of him, right? Because just give me a little something. But here's I I'm scared to death the guy goes to Baltimore. I don't want to see him there. That would be a good one for Lamar to have. Well, because look, his one is a kid out of Boston College, a little fellow, with flowers, right? Yeah, that's his one. But you know, they tried it with Hopkins, who was old. Yeah, right. So they tried it with Hopkins and they drafted a kid or two, but they I don't they don't have any impact. I don't want him to be there. So I I think big news at Debo's back. I think Tyreek is a distraction still, nobody knows where it is. Allen, you can uh you know, he's good. He's gonna he'll probably take a deal to be a three somewhere, which would be a really great three.
SPEAKER_04But digs is the intriguing one there. Yeah, I can see Keenan being a 40, 45 catch guy for a team that needs just to go over the top. They, I mean, not over now throwing over the top, but they're they they're a piece away, is what they feel like.
SPEAKER_03Speaking of piece away, I read this week that Hazelet, the owner of the Browns, says, hey man, this ain't the Browns anymore. We got something for you coming. They can't even fix a quarterback room yet, but they got something coming, right? What if the Browns turn this shit around and they, you know, just was a handful of years ago, they they beat the Steelers in the playoffs with Baker Mayfield. So it it can be done. What quiet team, and I'm gonna give you mine first, it's quiet. Nobody's speaking about 'em. Nobody it they're always good, but nobody's speaking about 'em. Rodney hates the Packers, so that's one of them. I believe. That they too can be r, you know, one of those spoiler things that are in there. The Lions in that same division. I've heard the Browns, but I'm going to give you one that I kept sitting on, sitting on, sitting on, and there's something about it. The Indianapolis Colts last year had a lot of issues with Jones. They come out 7-0. They lose in Pittsburgh, and then they go on a little slide, but Daniel Jones gets hurt. It's a lot to it, right? And then they don't know. They end up signing 62-year-old Phillip Rivers, who I can tell you looked like a throwback to a 1960s kicker, not just a quarterback. That guy had more. I don't know if his pads fit. I don't know if it goes over his titties or not. No, I didn't either. But I something tells me, man, I just keep going on the web and I'm reading, I'm as an outsider, not as a fan like I do the Steelers, I'm reading a lot of things. They got a little turmoil. They need to get Jonathan Taylor signed, but they let Pittman go and they got a true one and they got downs and they got other people behind them. And if Daniel Jones is healthy and they got some defense, that kind of clowny went back to the Texans. Texans, you know, are going to have that great defense. Jacksonville is being coached insanely right now, and they looked like a machine. They had, you know, a couple little stumbles in the playoff game was a stumble, right? I mean, they had some shoot themselves in the foot stuff. But man, something tells me the Indianapolis Colts are going to make a lot of news, and it could be because they go three and fourteen because everybody gets hurt, or it could be because they pick up where that 7-0 was and they start making away to the playoffs. Am I stupid? No, you're not.
SPEAKER_04They well, I mean, that's up for debate, but the the picks, the the take's not that bad. Let me put it that way. I worry about Daniel Jones and the Achilles coming back. Uh, you know how those guys are the first year they come back and seem to struggle. Uh but if that he can stay healthy, that that running back is solid, they can make some noise. Uh they really can. I just don't know how far they can go with uh with what they've got, but they can definitely make some noise in a weak division as well.
SPEAKER_03Who's the best team that nobody talks about? Like so if you say it's a middle of the pack to lower of the pack team, which one of those, in your opinion, is the best that could make some noise nobody's even talking about? Because to me, it was the Colts. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I mean, is there someone else I'm missing there that somebody that yes, they've started very similar to your Colts last year, the team that I'm thinking of, and injuries just decimated this team. Up until then, they were running away with their division, but that's the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Uh you think about Mike Evans getting hurt, Goblin got hurt, Mayfield was in and out, hurt all last year, whether it was his arm or his shoulder. I mean, there was all kinds of problems. If that team can stay healthy, Bucky Irvin was hurt a lot last year. They're start running back. If that team can stay healthy, they will run away with that conference. I mean, Panthers, I don't think, will do as well as they did last year. Atlanta won't do, they're not gonna make any noise. So the Saints, Saints finished well, but I just don't think they're they have enough firepower. But Tampa Bay is a team when they get in the playoffs, you don't want to deal with them. They are they have coached well, they they have star players. They can upset somebody.
SPEAKER_03Is the Baker Mayfield shit that's going on gonna be a distraction? Because he literally is telling them, look, you got to sign me now, because if you don't now, you ain't got the money to tag me next year. I'm walking.
SPEAKER_04I don't know if it'll be a distraction or not. I think they will tag him, uh, which would be good for him. That's almost fifty million dollars and uh for him. And I think he was signed a three-year, a hundred million dollar contract when uh on his last one, so he'll be getting half almost half that money in one year. Then who comes calling for him, right? But I believe he'll go out and show out to be able to get that bigger contract. I don't think it'll be a distraction for him. I think he'll play over his head to be able to get that next contract.
SPEAKER_03And listen, we all know as we sit here in the first week of August, there's gonna be camp injuries that are gonna just destroy or decimate somebody. There's also gonna be some pleasantries of people that were kind of upper middle pack. So I when I say upper middle pack, only not because I'm a fan, I use the Steelers, right? Somebody that you say in nine and eight, ten and seven, man, lo and behold, if they come through camp, somebody in the similar trajectory, if they come through camp healthy, everybody sign, we get into the season, that's a big deal for them to come through with their health. If somebody in that same conversation, Houston, Jacksonville, Buffalo, Baltimore, Kansas City, Denver, Cincinnati, if something happens in there, it's a big deal. We hope, and I'm not saying this because we're all just wusses, we hope everybody comes through healthy. We want to see the best football product possible, but we all know that injury is part of that game, and including non-contact injuries that happen during these camps. A guy jumps for a ball, something else happens. Now, quickly in our last couple minutes here, I say that's my wild ass. I just paying attention to the Colts. And we're gonna get into this next week in the hundredth episode, folks. We're gonna tell you who our four best teams are for the divisions, who our wildcard teams are gonna be in there, and who's gonna play for the Super Bowl, our front edition, our camp edition of that, along with our other guest, uh Coleman. I think I got Zach lined up to come on too, and he's gonna talk a little bit about what it's like training high school kids and how it follows a similar pattern to what a college or a pro would be. And I think it's kind of a unique take to that. I am staying in the AFC, and I think the team that's going to go to hell handbasketing pieces, and something that I will cheers to nightly during the season is the Baltimore Ravens. Damn.
SPEAKER_04Nope, not who I think it is.
SPEAKER_03And I just think that window was wasted, and I don't blame Harbaugh, because I think he's gonna be an energy for the Giants. I think there was something in there almost like Tomlin to me. I never felt like Tomlin was a bad head coach. I thought he was a horrible evaluator, coach is, and part of that was he liked to have his thumbprint on everything, so he took yes guys with him. I think Harbaugh had much the same uh from his coordinators, trying to get the best he could out of Lamar. I just believe that that window I didn't see them go shock the world. Now they did have a great draft, I thought, and and from Ozzie Newsom to the current regime, they have done that very well, as good if not better than most all teams in the NFL. But I think there's something in there. You got an aging running back, still one of the best that's ever done it, and it's amazing he still does it the level he does at his age and the wear and tear it's on him. That's why I say I hope Diggs is not there because I don't think they have the things they need outside. I just think that's gonna implode. Am I high? Am I wrong?
SPEAKER_04Well, I like Baltimore, so I hope you're wrong. I like Lamar, I like what they've done there, I like that culture, I like how they play. Um, they're an exciting team to watch. But the window could be closing. You're 100% correct. What they had and what they've been able to do with it, it's almost the same as Josh Allen. There's a guy named Patrick Mahomes has just been in been in both of those guys' way, and it seems like Patrick always rises up to the occasion where those guys have not been able to uh to be able to get to a Super Bowl to be able to win it. I think they have a couple more years in them. I don't I don't see Henry doing three more years. I think he's got two more left in him. And if they can figure out that wide receiver position uh to help Lamar out, I think they'll still be relatively competitive in the in the AFC. Who's your team of destruction? The team that I think will I will bet my paycheck, saying how there is not one, that's gonna fall off the ledge this year is gonna be New England Patriots. What they was able to do last year was phenomenal for them. Uh I like Drake May. I don't care at all for New England. I haven't uh since the Tuck rule days. Their record last year was a lot of the schedule that they played and the weak division that they're in. They're still gonna be in that weak division, but Buffalo's gonna be much better, and they're gonna be playing a much tougher schedule than what they did last year. If I had to pick if they're gonna make the playoffs or not gonna make the playoffs, they don't make the playoffs in 2026.
SPEAKER_03AJ Brown is a guy that's gonna change it's replacing Diggs as a number one. I get it. And he is a talent, he's also a distraction. That's right. The coach is evidently a big one, too, and I'm shocked about Kraft. And then Kraft comes out who very rarely makes the news by himself, and he came out and said, Hey, we're gonna make Christian Gonzalez the highest paid corner in the game. We love him. I believe Kraft did some of that to take distraction off something else. I am a huge Drake May guy. He's almost like his, you know, because both you and I are Carolina fans. You remember his brother looked like he didn't give two sh either when he was playing. That's right. No, no emotion. The kid was like, is that Qua Ludes? I'm not sure what's going on here. He's not a big deal. Yeah, not a big deal. I missed that three, so I'm going back the next time. Power. His brother plays quarterback the same way. He does. Exact same way. Throws a pick, fumbles a ball. He just like monotone. Then he throws a 70-yard touchdown, monotone again. I just think that's something in their DNA and their raising. I I would hate it for I hate New England too. Tuck Rule, Brady rule. You talk about Ben Rotesberger had three more Super Bowls if Tom Brady wasn't playing. And that's and Rothesburg acknowledges that. He said, hey man, there were times coming through there. If you looked at Phillip Rivers, him, I mean, their stunt in the playoffs always happened to New England. Couldn't get by. Cower, Tomlin didn't matter. Uh the two years they won the Super Bowl in that era, uh, New England was out of the playoffs when they so they ended up the year they went on a run, they didn't have to play them. And then the last time they won a playoff game was in 16. And guess who beat them in the championship game? And beat them like a drum, it was New England. I don't want to see that happen for Luke or Drake Mays thing, but I do wouldn't give two shits if it did. And I think that you're exactly right. Spot on their prime to have a fall based on what's going on.
SPEAKER_04It it just it'll be this year's version of uh Kansas City of last year. Yeah. What do you think about Jabir Gibbs and Bijan Robertson sitting out of practice because they need more money?
SPEAKER_03I got a take on it, but give me yours, and I uh and I'll give you mine's probably a little different perspective.
SPEAKER_04And they're they're both phenomenal running backs, probably top three running backs in in football right now. But you said the magic word they're running backs. They are running backs. They both had great years last year, and and they they both signed contracts to play for what they signed their contracts for. Now they played really good and want more money. So it reminds me of uh Mr. Deeds, the the quarterback that came in in that movie and said, I want more, I ain't played another damn down until you give me more money. And they looked at him and said, If you played bad, could I give you less money? And he went, Hell no. So what's the difference? Why couldn't the teams not re renegotiate if if these players are feel like they're so entitled to renegotiate when they have a good year? Why can't the teams renegotiate when they have bad years? If you are willing to put your dotted, your name on the dotted line and say, I will play for the X amount of years for the X amount of dollars, that should be their contract, is what I truly believe.
SPEAKER_03I I do too, and I now you got me fired up. So there's two things is one, they are you're spot on, they are great athletes, they're phenomenal running backs, and they are top five at least. But they are running backs which an undervalued position now because most offensive minds think I need receivers that can catch contested balls, win 50-50 balls, but on my running back, if a kid can hit a hole, we're good. Like I I'll go sign anybody to and that's kind of how look at only because I know him well. Look at uh my kid in Pittsburgh. He was undrafted. And so he ends up taking a number one Jalen Warren, they take the number one pick in Najee Harrison, he's no longer needed because Jalen Warren does everything Najee does in that offense only better. Cheaper, right? That's one. Two is think about this when you said, hey, you sign a contract, play for it. And I fully agree with you. If you sign the contract, you're signing part on what you've accomplished, but part of what you're gonna do. And if you don't meet that, I think the teams, if as much as you want money, we ought to be able to take it away. I used to work for a guy named Dick Taggart. Do you remember Brother Dick? I don't. He was a district back in the 80s for your former company, and he was from West Virginia, and he used to get so mad back then we always wore shirt and ties, and he wore red suspenders, his face would be as red as the suspenders were. If he came in, the store didn't look good. You know, he told me one time I was a young grocery manager, 18 years old. I said, Yeah, he goes, I can tell you right now, I don't know who's working the glass and can aisle, they need to go. You need to make a change, is what I tell him. I said, Yeah, I don't like either one of them, I'm gonna fire him. He said, Don't fire them. You threaten to fire them, they're gonna quit. Threaten to take a quarter an hour from them. Watch what happens. I said, What? I said, This guy's on moonshine or something. He's drinking, and sure as sh, man. I had one conversation with a guy who says, Hey, you're not meeting standard. The time was we were cutting in price, and so the standard was about 35 an hour. So I'd get them to 31 cases an hour, 30 cases an hour, and it wasn't cutting it. So I'd tell him, hey man, you're getting ready to get whacked. That didn't help them perform. I went to a guy and said, hey, you're running 28 cales an hour, I'm gonna take a quarter an hour from you for about the next six weeks. That some bitch was in the 40, 42 case per hour. It worked. Money, not the jobs of motivator. They feel like you cut them, they're gonna go somewhere else and play, right? SPEAKER_03It is. I'd think that too, but I think I'd be the number one golfer. My injuries would just be my massage lady was a little hard on me last night, or you know, I I didn't like walking. I went off course a little bit, but I watch my grand, the reason I ask is my sons, you know, baseball, basketball, football kids, you know, two go off and play at a higher level, and I watch one of those that play at a higher level who none of them took up softball like me, because I guess that game is kind of silly to some people, but the kids are into golf. My four-year-old grandson's out hitting a driver off the deck. Nice now. Keep in mind, I've tried that myself. Not easy, and I'm not good at it. I'm watching this kid make contact off the deck. I'll send you a video of it, and he's whacking it. So I said, What are you doing? He goes, Well, you know, you steer him to that. It's a gentleman's game. He can be getting play the rest of his life. I'm like, damn, that's kind of wise. Did I raise you? And then that was the point, you know, that I did. Yeah, I yeah, I've got that myself. Folks, looking forward to the 100th episode next week.
